A family-run agricultural estate in the Valley Rosandra, a short drive from Trieste, offers a guided tasting of wine and olive oil produced on site. The estate sits on the Carso plateau, where vineyards and olive groves meet the Adriatic coast and the foothills of the Julian Alps.
A sommelier guides the tasting, which includes four wines made from native and international grape varieties grown on the property, alongside three extra virgin olive oils. A board of cured meats, local cheese, bread and grissini accompanies the tasting, with still water included. The visit lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The estate originated as an "osmiza," a type of farmhouse tavern traditional to the Carso region, where local farmers were historically permitted to sell their own wine and food directly from their property for a limited number of days each year.
